The Woman – Margaret Thatcher – Rest In Peace

Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Baroness Thatcher, passed today at the age of 87. She lead her party to three election wins and served twelve years as Prime Minister before handing the reigns over to her successor.

She was fierce.

A principled and intelligent Lady, Margaret Thatcher became Britain’s first female Prime Minister. Her extraordinary leadership skill set, not whom she married, made her the best person for this position. As Prime Minister, she spearheaded necessary and fair changes to spearhead a revival of Britain, while breaking political glass ceilings for women worldwide.

Her keen intelligence rocked the macho status quo in Parliament; she rose to the occasion, but always remained a Lady.

This woman was no #Julia. She was the real deal – a strong, intelligent, capable, heroic woman – a role model for empowered feminists like myself.

I never had the fortune to meet Margaret Thatcher. My good blogging buddy, Mike Miller, created an extraordinary post remembering Margaret Thatcher entitled Iron Lady for the Ages. He shares his memories of time when adults occupied positions of power.

Rest in peace, Margaret Thatcher. You will be missed.

The Snark Factor on FTR Radio

Listen live to the Snark Factor every Wednesday night at 1opm EST on FTR Radio where I will be joining Fingers Malloy, Irish Duke to bring news-bites at the top of the hour followed by sparkling chats with invited guests. If you are a fan of my blog, you’ll know that I have an eclectic taste in news of the day.

On tap for Wednesday night:

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas – NOT.  How many folks actually prefer a snowy Christmas over, say, a rather tropical Christmas?

Is everyone getting set to lose yet again? The 2012 HGTV Dream Home will allow two daily entries beginning December 29th.  Are dreamers ready to have their dreams crushed – yet again? I’m being too negative, aren’t I?

For those not celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah – Happy Festivus!

Via Bad Rachel – 99 Percent Felonious – I had no idea the Occupation basic tent sold for 400 bucks.  A tough life, indeed, for the unwashed over-educated squatters of the Occupation.

Kindle Fire on track for hundreds of millions of monthly ad impressions.  Not bad for a 7 inch tablet from Amazon which I dearly love.  FYI – You cannot Skype using your Kindle Fire.

Dear Single Men – Please don’t follow these 15 Steps to Fall In Love – they don’t work. Luv,  All The Single Ladies.

Help WAPO and NY Times read Former Governor Sarah Palin’s Emails

Going Rogue - An American Life

Have a bit of spare time this weekend? Why not use the time to help out the MSM latest ‘witch hunt’ against Sarah Palin.

Yesterday, the Sate of Alaska released 24,000 pages of emails relating to Sarah Palin, in printed form. The MSM sent scores of people to Alaska to read over the emails and report their findings. In the age of instant digital sharing, this is a crowd sourcing project that everyone can participate in. I’ve discovered Britain’s Guardian online site is scanning the emails and asking viewers to view the emails and report their findings.

Want to participate? Click HERE and have at it, my friends! I’ll be updating the blog with my findings, let me know what you find as well by dropping a link to the email in the comment field.

When are the emails from Senator Obama to be released? I’ll settle for college transcripts or email from the former Senator and failed Presidential candidate, Hilary Clinton. Can one FOIA request the emails?

What I’ve seen so far in the emails is the workings of talented leader and that she is a wonderful mother of  of a DS child.

Below the fold is one of my favorite emails I’ve read so far on the Guardian site. Thanks LuAnn for your kind words!

Balancing National Security vs Economic Recovery

The United State Air Force is in the market for an armed reconnaissance aircraft. Two companies have been tapped as potential manufacturers of this aircraft,  American manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer.

I’m all for competition in the marketplace, yet should we let crucial parts of our national defense be outsourced? What about the wonderful campaign slogan of preserving or creating American jobs?

Speaking of jobs, Stephen DeMaura breaks down the numbers of  US jobs created by each contract.

Hawker Beechcraft currently estimates that its proposal will create over 1,400 U.S. jobs in 18 states while Embraer’s proposal will create only 50 U.S. jobs.

Why outsource these well paying jobs? With a country facing 9 % unemployment and underemployment hovering at 19.3% , the choice seems quite obvious – look for the Made in America label.

2011 Philly Republican Primary Endorsements

Otherwise known as ‘Miller Time’. Philadelphia’s Primary Day is one week away and I’ve yet to unveil my endorsements for various public offices up for grabs this coming November. It’s quite exciting in Philly as voters have a golden opportunity to revolutionize Philly’s political landscape with their vote.  The take home message bitterly learned in 2008 and applied in 2010 is simply  that elections have consequences.  It is my hope that Philadelphia residents will rise to the challenge and vote for better solutions instead of more of the same. After careful consideration and note taking, here are Republican candidates I believe will bring Philadelphia back to good.   Continue reading

Gibbs To Step Down – White House Now Accepting Applications

Today it was announced from on high – Robert Gibbs will step down from his role as White House Press Secretary.

As soon as I read the news on the blogs, I thought of the perfect candidate for the position. As long as I have known this candidate, he has doggedly pursued his interests, not stopping until he achieved his goals. He gets along well with his house mate and is always willing to share his goods. He has the uncanny knack of communicating his every mood in a simple and direct way. He cuts to the chase and clearly communicates his message to all around him –  ‘uhm and uh’ are not in his vocabulary. All this he manages without suffering fools around him. There is no gray area, no BS,  he makes no bones in calling out issues as he sees them.  His qualities make him eminently qualified to replace Gibbs as White House Press Secretary.

Who is such a person, you ask?  Hmmm…sometimes he is called a man’s best friend:

PA Senate and Congressional Races Update

First off, I have to share a Flickr link from one heck of a politico, Sean Hackbarth. His screen capture offers a glimpse into the liberal mindset days before an epic election. Pure awesomeness, Sean.

Okay..now lets get to the races in Pennsylvania:

Pat Toomey vs Joe Sestak – This is such an interesting race to follow poll wise. RCP places this race in the ‘Toss Up’ category, yet Toomey leads in every poll listed save one. This is trending more to ‘Leans GOP’ with every poll released. Rasmussen is calling this race a toss-up, despite  Toomey consistently ahead of Sestak in the poll numbers. A recently released Morning Call/ Muhlenberg tracking poll sees a swing back in favor of both Toomey and Corbett.  Now is the time for Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents to double down and bring  Toomey and Corbett to victory next Tuesday.

PA CD-6 – Gerlach is crushing Trivedi with a 10 point polling advantage, yet RCP is calling this race ‘Leans GOP‘? I’d label it Congressman Gerlach’s race. Amazing how a ten point lead less than a week from election day doesn’t cut it for ‘Likely GOP’ in RCP world.

PA CD-7 – Pat Meehan vs Bryan Lentz remains in the ‘Leans GOP’ category with the latest polling by Franklin and Marshal giving Pat a solid 3 point lead over Lentz. Pat Meehan has great name recognition in CD7 and Lentz has skillfully surrounded himself with tons of negative publicity.  Now is the time to ramp up GOTV initiatives so that next Tuesday we can hand  Obama’s water carrier a pink slip.

PA CD-8 Mike Fitzpatrick vs moveon.org endorsed candidate Patrick Murphy, is till in the ‘Leans GOP’ category. The enthusiasm is all on Fitzpatrick’s side – last night I attended a  AFP phone bank marathon in  and had to wait a half hour to get access to a phone to start calling likely voters in the 8th congressional district. The place was jumping last night!

PA CD-11 Lou Barletta vs Paul Kanjorski has not moved from the ‘Leans GOP‘ category according to RCP. We need principled men like Barletta in Congress and it looks like we are going to start addressing Lou as Congressman Barletta.

PA CD-12 – Tim Burns vs Mark Critz. The race is going exactly as expected – a Toss Up.

PA CD-13 Dee Adcock vs the architect of Obamacare, Allyson Schwartz.  The race still ‘Leans DNC’ , this is one congressional district that is overdue for a clean out.

PA CD-17 Dave Argyll vs Tim Holden. RCP has this firmly in ‘Leans DEM’. Oh man this would make such a great ‘come from nowhere’ win for the GOP. Argyll is a great guy, I would like him to do well in this race.

PA Governors Race: Corbett vs Onorato is still in the ‘leans GOP‘ RCP category. No surprises here.

Looking at the polling, I’m gunning for  ‘The Great Refudiation‘ come November 2nd.

Any Questions? Leave a comment or follow me on Twitter for more updates on these races. Oh, please take a moment to surf over to Ace of Spades, it seems my buddy Ace is having election night jitters and needs some cheering up.

Hear Us Roar – Republican Women Rising

New Faces

Many thanks to Robert Werner for creating the image above.

The battle for America is 20 days away. Since 2008, this nation has witnessed the rise of new class of political warrior – strong, intelligent and fearless Conservative women. Despite near constant misogynistic attacks from the leftwing political sphere, conservative women have risen up on the national and local level. We will not sit idly by while this nation burns, we will not tolerate incompetence from elected leaders, and we are going to shatter every last glass ceiling there is in this nation. November 2nd, hear us roar!

What Happens When You Hold A Rally and No One Shows?

Well, you could say that happened this weekend with Democrat Senate Candidate Joe Sestak’s Health Care Rally held at Independence Mall in Philly. In the heart of blue Philadelphia, a natural base for Sestak, only dozens showed up for the Sestak Rally.  I had the pleasure of witnessing this pathetic rally this past Sunday.
