Going Rogue – Midnightblue Review

Going Rogue - An American Life

Going Rogue - An American Life

Over the past weeks, I’ve read  fantastic reviews of this book.  Check out Bank of Kev and American Thinker‘s review of Going Rogue, both are outstanding works in their own right.  I’ve borrowed the question set from the Bank of Kev review in order to frame my thoughts on the book.

Thanksgiving Reflections

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving 2009

Tis the season to reflect on what we value, what we cherish, and what we are thankful for in this great nation. We live in challenging times and uncertainty is our constant companion – yet there is much I am grateful for every day of the year:

  • To the men and women serving overseas protecting our life and freedom. THANK YOU!
  • I’m thankful for the homeless man who resides on a steam grate outside the parking garage at work. I’m given a daily reminder of how fortunate I have been in life and how much work is needed to help people in this situation. Homelessness in Philly is not a dry statistic – it has a face, it has a name.
  • Thank you Sarah Palin for revolutionizing feminism to empower women instead of victimizing them.
  • I’m thankful for being part of the Sheepdog family. For the past 2+ years I’ve had the privilege to document the story of the American Sheepdogs in West Chester and in the process have discovered the selflessness, sacrifice and nobility of everyday Americans. Every Saturday hope is renewed and I get to spend quality time with Frank, a WW2 veteran who shows up rain or shine.
  • I’m grateful for the opportunity to get to know Chris Galloway during his short time on this earth. Rest in Peace, Chris.
  • I’m thankful for being part of a conservative grass root awakening in this nation.
  • Adopting a homeless dog – I’m ever amazed at how Buster has worked his way into my heart. Liberals would have homeless pets killed in order to protect the environment, I suggest adoption since AGW has been exposed as the fraud of the century.
  • Thanks to all the readers of the MidnightBlue – you are constant source of inspiration for me.

Obama Dines while Afghanistan and America Burn

Around 300 guests attended the Obama’s first state dinner – not sure if Peggy Joseph made the guest list. Wonder how much this shindig cost the taxpayer?

Meanwhile, outside the specially designed white tent, American’s are struggling with a 17.5% unemployment rate and young black men ( 16-24) are struggling with a 34.5% unemployment rate – the highest since the Great Depression.

Change.  You want more?

The Indelible Whiteness of West Chester

Monochromtic Crowd

Monochromtic Crowd

Michelle Malkin details the blinding whiteness of the MSNBC masthead:

Palin-bashing racial bean-counters in monochromatic houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Ouch.

Last Saturday, I didn’t have to accidentally click on MSNBC to view monochromatic liberalism, I found it just outside Philadelphia in suburban West Chester. Lois Herr and supporters gathered at the steps of the Chester County Courthouse to smear conservatism and receive endorsement from the pro abortion group called NOW. What stood out, apart from the anemic turnout, was the absolute lack of diversity that supposedly defines ‘big tent’ liberalism. Lois Herr’s supporters at this event were exclusively white and middle-aged. A narrowly defined group in the 16th Congressional District, yet Lois Herr claims to speak for all.

I was able to get video from inside the Herr rally, check out the attendees yourself and decide.  More  photos from the rally can be found on FLICKR

Where are the Jobs, Obama?

It seems Pennsylvania has acquired several more congressional districts according to Recover.gov.  Pennsylvania has 19 districts (1 – 19), yet somehow managed to spend 12.6 million tax payer dollars in these non existent districts.

I reported on this deception with a post on Facebook on Tuesday:

Facebook Question

Facebook Question

That was Tuesday, on Friday the PA GOP finally notices the discrepancy in a email detailing the cost and created jobs from the non existent districts. Good thing they are quick on the uptake.

Pennsylvania has 19 congressional districts numbered sequentially, 1-19. Here is a list of the money spent, listed at the government site recovery.gov, on the Obama administration’s non-existent congressional districts. Too bad the very real money spent in these imaginary districts came straight out of the pockets of hardworking American taxpayers:

· 00th Congressional District – $6,729,345

· 96th Congressional District – $1,960,179

· 21st Congressional District – $1,952,810

· 23rd Congressional District – $1,487,259

· 65th Congressional District – $474,83

It seems that the Obama administration claims to have spent $12.6 million on non-existent congressional districts. With no constituents for these districts to speak of, you can only help but wonder if each of Cinderella’s seven dwarves and the tooth fairy benefited from the alleged 32.2 jobs those funds created. Those living in the 00th Congressional District can be proud that President Obama, Senator Specter and Democratic congressional members for ‘creating’ jobs.

It seems Recovery.gov cleaned up their Pennsylvania page by placing the 12.6 million dollars in an unassigned congressional district.

12.6 Million to 'unassigned congressional districts'

12.6 Million to 'unassigned congressional districts'

It is time to write a letter to you congressperson asking for the location of the unassigned districts and an accounting for every penny of the 12.6 million dollars. Remember, they work for you, hold them accountable for this theft.

Monday Blend

Lots going on in the world, and I want to catch the latest installment of The Prisoner. Hope you enjoy the blend tonight!

No We Won’t

Obama and other world leaders on Sunday supported delaying a legally binding climate pact until 2010 or even later, but European negotiators said the move did not imply weaker action.

Perhaps they need more time to review the real Inconvenient Truth

Reality Check: It took 11 ‘journalists’ from Associated Press to discover that Sarah Palin’s new bestseller Going Rogue is actualy factual.

An Unexpected Mea Culpa

From the author of  the blog HillBuzz:

Thank You former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush.

As we will always be grateful for what George and Laura Bush did this week, with no media attention, when they very quietly went to Ft. Hood and met personally with the families of the victims of this terrorist attack.

FOR HOURS.

The Bushes went and met privately with these families for HOURS, hugging them, holding them, comforting them.

If there are any of you out there with any connection at all to the Bushes, we implore you to give them our thanks…you tell them that a bunch of gay Hillary guys in Boystown, Chicago were wrong about the Bushes…and are deeply, deeply sorry for any jokes we told about them in the past, any bad thoughts we had about these good, good people.

You may be as surprised by this as we are ourselves, but from this day forward George W. and Laura Bush are now on the same list for us as the Clintons, Geraldine Ferraro, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, and the other political figures we keep in our hearts and never allow anyone to badmouth.

Criticize their policies academically and intelligently and discuss the Bush presidency in historical and political terms…but you mess with the Bushes personally and, from this day forward, you’ll answer to us.

We hope someday to be able to thank George W. and Laura in person for all they’ve done, and continue to do. They didn’t have to head to Ft. Hood. That was not their responsibility.

The Obamas should have done that.

But didn’t.

Wouldn’t.

Thank goodness George W. is still on his watch, with wonderful Laura at his side.

Oh mercy, this is a huge step in healing this divided nation. I applaud this step and look forward to more coming to the same conclusion.

Ohhh..Change You Can Believe In!

Republicans surge ahead Democrats in Gallup’s generic ballot:

PRINCETON, NJ — Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup’s generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month.

Is is a coincidence that this up-tick occurred as Pelosi care was passed to the Senate? With the increased taxation and possible jail time proposed by Pelosicare, independent voters are abandoning the Democrats in droves over this scam of a healthcare bill.

Ed Morrisey puts forth a brilliant analysis of this change:

Republicans won in 1994 by focusing on core principles of fiscal conservatism and limited government, principles that appealed to independents frightened by the statist policies of runaway Democrats. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have essentially created all the conditions of 1994 again for the GOP to use to give them the boot, at least in the House. The Republican Party has to be smart enough to recognize that and seize the moment.

And this time, they’d better stick to those principles, too.

The only way the Republican party will stick to those principles is when voters replace Republicans with Conservatives.
