Spring @ Longwood Garden

Click HERE to find out the necessary information for you to plan your visit to Longwood Garden. This is a must see attraction in the greater Philadelphia area. I love my new Flip Mino HD camcorder and put it to good use filming clips of my afternoon in the Garden – Enjoy the pretty:

Spent about an hour yesterday walking around Winterthur Gardens testing out the features of the Canon 40d. It is a joy to use and the garden was in its glory. If you’ve never visited Winterthur, it is worth the trip.

I’m starting the process of creating Blurb books showcasing Winterthur and Longwood Gardens through all four season . Check back for more updates on this project!

There is nothing better to help you unwind then to walk around a world class garden.

Walking into the Conservatory, the intoxicating smell of Jasmine was the first thing to greet visitors. As always, I’ve a camera or two with me when I visit.

Above is a sample of what was on display yesterday in Longwood Gardens.

Orchid Days @ The Conservatory

Orchid Madness at Longwood Garden. The Conservatory was covered with thousands of Orchids arranged in clever displays. This was close encounter experience with many exotic species of Orchid that leaves visitors dazzled and smelling like a corsage.

Honestly, I had forgotten about this exhibit and did not have a tripod or the right lenses and flash to really capture the beauty of these flowers. I never saw so many photographers with macro lenses and ring flashes in one place! Nevertheless, I worked with what I had and manged to capture a few intriguing photos.

Enjoy!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Memo to my readers:

Longwood is transformed into a winter wonderland filled with sparkling lights, fragrant flowers, joyous music and a dazzling ice skating extravaganza. Dancing fountains are synchronized to holiday music in the Open Air Theatre, and festive organ sing-alongs fill the Ballroom with the sounds of the season.

Late Night at Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens offers a free (included with admission) water fountain show every Friday and Saturday nights from late spring to early fall. A good opportunity to learn how to effectively use a monopod in order to capture some dramatic images that would be impossible without a tripod or other stable base.

I am a quick learner….more of my images can be found a Ancora Imparo and Flickr.
