Translating Obamacare

H/T: Backyard Conservative:

President Obama on Wednesday answered questions on rising costs, taxing benefits, and many other issues during an ABC News special on health care reform, “Questions for the President: Prescription for America.” Cato Institute scholars Michael D. Tanner and Michael F. Cannon respond to Obama’s claims. Learn more about health care reform at Cato.org.

Two talented bloggers, John Ruberry of Marathon Pundit and Anne Leary of Backyard Conservative, participated in a Cap & Trade Tea Party outside Mark Kirk’s District Office. They were joined by dozens of like minded patriots expressing their dissatisfaction of his vote to screw over our economy and our environment.

Donald Douglas from American Power chronicles the left’s reaction to the reversal of Supreme Court Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor’s appellate court decision.

My interest here is to record the reaction on the far left of the spectrum. Clearly, leftist victimology, and continued claims of “accumulated racial disadvantages” and “institutional discrimination,” are driving the discussion on the left.

These two stories are a must read, folks

HGTV Rebuilding Lives One Home at a Time

Today I had the opportunity to celebrate the opening of a renovated home dedicated to homeless veterans in Philadelphia. These individuals now have a place where they can get the help and guidance they need to put their lives back on track. The home is managed by the Pennslvania American Legion Housing For Homeless Veterans Corporation

This day was made possible by HGTV – Change The World Project and Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. A Hero’s Welcome and Warriors Watch organized their membership to attend the opening ceremony.

Photos and additional videos can be found on my FLICKR page

John Boehner Weekly Address

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today delivered the weekly Republican address. The address comes as unemployment rises while Washington Democrats continue to pursue policies on the economy, health care, energy, and the environment that will destroy more American jobs and drive future generations into deeper debt.

Meanwhile, the Inquirer has dug up Cherly Ann Waddington, owner of Evoluer Image Consultants, who blames her bad business plan on the health care care situation. I don’t think any health care plan can cure a bad business plan.

UPDATE: It seems Cherly has taken an interest in this post. I’m inviting her explain specifically how universal health care as proposed by the Senate and Congress is the link to her business success. She is a talented and creative person, I wish her the best of luck in her business and will post with out edit her response.

Sheepdogs Remember Neda

Donning green wristbands, the Sheepdogs stand in solidarity with the people of Iran.

The former prime minister of Spain, Jose Maria Anzar, reflects on the silence of Western nations in the wake of brutal crackdown in Iran:

The recent elections in Lebanon are a clear example. The progressive normalization of Iraq is another. It would be a shame, particularly in the face of such regional progress, if our passivity gave carte blanche to a tyrannical regime to finish off the dissidents and persist with its revolutionary plans.

Delayed public displays of indignation may be good for internal political consumption. But the consequences of Western inaction have already materialized. Watching videos of innocent Iranians being brutalized, it’s hard to defend silence.

Check out the green wrist bands on the group shot!

As always, our thoughts are with the men and women of the West Chester Stryker Brigade:

Because they lie – the other side – all six of them:
