FTR Radio Tonight at 10PM
Listen live every Wednesday night at 1opm EST on FTR Radio where I will be joining Fingers Malloy, Irish Duke to bring news-bites at the top of the hour followed by sparkling chats with invited guests. If you are a fan of my blog, you’ll know that I have an eclectic taste in news of the day.
On tap for tonight:
Dispersed and defeated, Philadelphia Police Department evicts the squatters known as Occupation Philly in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 30th. I happily gave up a bootcamp session this morning as the Philadelphia Police department were using Lloyd Hall as a staging area.
I live for this stuff – rumors are swirling of a March 2012 release date for the iPhone 5 along with multiple versions of Ipad 3. The iPhone 5 is expected to have a complete design overhaul with a larger screen size to complete with similar Android class smartphones. Siri is rumored to have a spot on the new iPad 3 and there is talk of Apple releasing two versions of iPad3; one with a 3G connection and one with 4G.
James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, tore into the Kardashians during an interview with Britain’s GQ magazine. The Daily Mail reports the actor had sharp words on the legitimacy of their talent and demands regarding their private life:
Craig said: ‘Look at the Kardashians, they’re worth millions. I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them. ‘You see that and you think “what, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions”. ‘I’m not judging it – well, I am obviously.’
Speaking of horses…Obama goes from vaunted horse whisperer to horse slaughterer by quietly signing a bill allowing horse slaughter in the United States. Makes you wonder were the mystery meat in your Big Mac really comes from.
Atheists barred from hating on Christmas in West Chester. Why is this important? A video from last year’s commissioners meeting were Margaret Downy pulls the race card out on Terrence Farrell – who happens to be African American. This virulent strain of atheism is founded in hatred of religion, specifically the Catholic faith, and not in the simple disbelief of a greater God. The video is the best example of this type of virulent atheism I’ve ever come across.
Dispersed and Defeated – Occupation Philly Routed from Dilworth Plaza
Dilworth Plaza around 5 pm on 11/30/2011. Post Occupation Clean Up – Dilworth Plaza never looked so good. Looking forward to the dynamic redesign of this plaza which will include lots of green space along with a stunning modern redesign.
Many thanks to the skill and professionalism of the Philadelphia Police Department. You achieved the best possible outcome of this public nuisance problem otherwise known as Occupation Philly.
6ABC News online poll asking viewers if they have a favorable view of Occupation Philly and the results speak for themselves:
The Occupation Philly public temper tantrum will no longer be tolerated; the occupiers need to find a more constructive outlet to work out their fears AND find a way to pay for it themselves.
Monday With Martha
Working through the basics starting with chopping vegetables and working with herbs, I decided to combine the skills and knowledge together in one dish – semi homemade chicken soup. I used fresh vegetables common in chicken soup to practice basic and specialty cuts and selected savory herbs and spices to create a Sachet d’Epice or more commonly known in this kitchen – a bag of spices.
BCRR Thanksgiving 5 Mile Race Recap
Thanksgiving is full of tradition, a relative newcomer to this festive day is participating in 3 mile or 5 mile fun run. This is great way to kick start your metabolism to help manage the influx of calories coming later in the day.
Bucks County Road Runners organized a fantastic 5 mile run through scenic Core Creek Park on Thanksgiving Day. The course was mostly flat with an occasional long rolling hill. Rumor floating around pre race was that there were a 1,000 entrants for this run. Wow! I hope that is true, because this was an excellent race from start to finish.
Occupy Philly Moving On
5pm tonight was the deadline set by the city for the protestors of Occupation Philly to remove themselves (and their fleas) from Dilworth Plaza.
I was asked to cover a press announcement scheduled for 4:30pm today and hosted by Independence Hall Tea Party Association. Don Giordano spoke at this rally and was met with a hateful response from the Occupation supporters. A conversation with an Occupation protester on Friday clued me into the possibility of heightened potential for violence and arrests of the Occupation crowd come Sunday.
Mr. Protester pictured below was happy to share with me his impending incarceration – the white dude with the silly shirt:
I decided it was just too risky to venture down to Dilworth Plaza tonight as there was already a history of rape and assault against women at Occupation Philly – I didn’t want to attract that kind of attention.
Philly 6ABC has continuing coverage:
Tina Dico – I’m In Love With a Beautiful Man
Discovered this song on Spotify.
While browsing YouTube for a video of this song, I came across a Justified fan video set to Tina Dico’s song. I love the FX series Justified; to have a new favorite song paired with an awesome television show is all kinds of awesome.
That I’m in love
I’m in love
I’m in love with a beautiful man
I’m in love
I’m in love
I’m in love and it’s almost more than I can stand
So I guess I better tell him…
That I’m in love..

GOP Debate on National Security and Foreign Policy
Via the Heritage Foundation:
The Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute and CNN are pleased to announce that the presidential debate on foreign policy and national security co-hosted by The Heritage Foundation will take place in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Nov. 22. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer will moderate. [8 pm EST]
Wolf Blitzer as moderator? Seriously? Oh, Newt is going to have fun with this one 🙂
Twitter hashtag for tonight’s debate: #CnnDebate
Brief thoughts and score card will be posted after the debate.
Okay, have to head to bed as I have boot camp way too early in the AM. Here are my grades and brief thoughts on the debate so far:
Santorum – C – Still comes across as whiny, not passionate, in his answers.
Paul – F – I figured out tonight what turns me off to Ron Paul – he is creepily paranoid.
Perry – C – No major flubs, but not a strong debater.
Romney – B – Polished answers as expected.
Gingrich – A+ – Gingrich owned this panel debate and owned Ron Paul on the question of the Patriot Act.
Cain – B – Good on Cain for not falling for Blitzer’s bait regarding profiling in airports.
Bachmann – B – Good, solid answers.
Huntsman – C – Agreed with him on some points and with others, rolled my eyes.
Moderator Wolf Blitzer – Is that his real name? I can’t get past the facial hair.
What are your thoughts on tonight’s debate? Who won? Won lost? Leave me a comment 🙂
