Rebuild America Bus Tour Rolls into Altoona, PA

Sparkle!

H/T Marathon Pundit.

Rebuild America bus tour is holding a rally this Friday, November 2nd (voting day for some of you) in Altoona, PA. This organization has identified 5 swing states that it plans to focus its energy – Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa. They believe that winning 3 of the 5 states is key for a Romney/Ryan victory and to that end have planned rallies in each of these states.

The Pennsylvania rally details are below. If you have time go check out the rally and don’t forget to take photos!

Date/Time:
Friday, November 2nd
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Rally Location:
Bavarian Hall
1509 13th St
Altoona, PA 16601

Pennsylvania is showing signs of breaking from the tradition of electing the Democrat Presidential candidate this year. Although nothing in politics is certain until election day, polling data is beginning to show a trend towards both the Romney/Ryan ticket and Republican Senate candidate, Tom Smith. Rasmussen is now reporting the US Senate race in PA is essentially a tie.  While I am hesitant to call both of these races in Pennsylvania, this election will go one of two ways in PA: Tom Smith and Mitt Romney win PA or Casey JR and Obama will take PA.  This election comes down to a numbers game in Pennsylvania as there are more registered democrats than republicans. The outcome of the election depends upon which party can get more people to the polls. For Romney and Smith to have a credible chance to win in Pennsylvania two things need to happen – Republicans need a strong GOTV  drive in the suburban counties especially around Philadelphia combined with a sluggish, dispirited Democrat voter turnout in both Allegheny and Philadelphia counties.

And that is my two cents on the election predictions. What are your thoughts on the PA presidential and senate race?

Wisconsin Recall Saga Continues on August 16th

Tuesday, August 16th, another installment in the Wisconsin recall saga will play out. This time  two Democrat senators are facing recall elections. In a nation struggling with a stark economic downgrade, outside groups have poured 25 million dollars into these recall elections. Think about that for a moment, twenty five million dollars spent on eight state level senate recall elections. Recall elections typically don’t make a ripple outside local media and cost considerably less that what  was splashed out by these organizations. This type of spending is usually reserved for national races with national media attention. But these weren’t typical recall elections. Rick Badger, executive director of the Wisconsin affiliate of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME),described the recall effort, “These elections are little proxies for what is going to happen for the rest of the country.” Christian Science Monitor reminds its readers of potential national implications of the recall elections:

But don’t underestimate the power of a symbol, he adds. Tuesday’s election carries political currency for Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Minnesota, Tennessee, and other states where high-stakes partisan fights erupted after Republican upsets in the state legislature, governor’s office, or both.

CA-36 Special Election

CA -36 Have you voted?

Voters in Hermosa Beach other South Bay cities turned out Tuesday morning to cast ballots in the runoff election to fill the 36th Congressional District seat.  Despite the buzz surrounding the race between Democratic candidate Janice Hahn and Republican tea party candidate Craig Huey, most polling places were fairly quiet.

Quiet turnout for this special election. This election could go to either party, despite being a +12 democrat advantage. Official CA-36 special election results can be found HERE

Poll close in two hours. I’m getting dinner.

President Newt? I Don’t Think So.

Mass resignations within your campaign this early in the game is never a good sign.

This presidential campaign is toast.  Perhaps it should have never begun.

Philly 2011 Primary Recap

Winners!

In a word – Transformational.

Across both parties entrenched establishment politicos fell to the new generation. The timeless adage “out with the old and in with the new” precisely describes the 2011 primary elections in Philadelphia.  Republican Frank Rizzo, Jr concedes and Democrat Tartaglione may soon follow.  I’m at a loss for words on the magnitude of this change in the political landscape in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to Denny O’Brien and David Oh on your victories tonight.

Clearly, the political tide is shifting in Philly. What does this mean for the 2012 election cycle – perhaps Pennsylvania is not locked down for the Democrat Presidential candidate.  Stay tuned folks, this story is still unfolding.

UPDATE:  A Republican and Democrat political dynasty fell, two un endorsed Republican candidates may yet pull out a victory. The GOP establishment in Philly has been sent a clear message – their days are numbered. The DNC has been put on notice that PA is no longer a ‘safe’ state.

2011 Philly Republican Primary Endorsements

Otherwise known as ‘Miller Time’. Philadelphia’s Primary Day is one week away and I’ve yet to unveil my endorsements for various public offices up for grabs this coming November. It’s quite exciting in Philly as voters have a golden opportunity to revolutionize Philly’s political landscape with their vote.  The take home message bitterly learned in 2008 and applied in 2010 is simply  that elections have consequences.  It is my hope that Philadelphia residents will rise to the challenge and vote for better solutions instead of more of the same. After careful consideration and note taking, here are Republican candidates I believe will bring Philadelphia back to good.   Continue reading

Canada Goes Conservative

Mark Steyn explains this sudden change for the better in the Canadian political landscape using metaphors any typical American would understand:

Liberal Party of Canada Buried at Sea After Dying in Firefight

Canada’s Conservative party has been returned to office, and for the first time Stephen Harper’s ministry will enjoy a parliamentary majority. Always good to have one nation on the North American continent with a Conservative head of government.

On the other hand, the NDP (that’s Canadian for the Socialist Loon Party) has near tripled its representation, thanks to a last-minute revelation that its leader, Jack Layton, had been found naked with a “masseuse” during a police raid on a bawdy house. One never knows what will finally cause a party to make a breakthrough with the electorate, but Mr. Layton’s was the money shot heard round the world

It didn’t take long for the hate to percolate among shiftless Twitter-ites. WeLoveSarahPalin has posted a video collection of the disturbing tweets directed towards  Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Some tweets seem to be simply stupid venting and I hope none of these tweets affect the career of those posting them. Other tweets seem more malicious with homicidal intent. Check out the video below and judge for yourself:
