Senator Robert Byrd, Democrat and Klansman – Dead at 92
Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, recruiter for the Klu Klux Klan and obstructionist to the groundbreaking 1964 Civil Rights Act has died.
Who in the Democrat party will step up and don the sheets lately donned by the deceased Senator?
I’m not saddened or shocked by his passing. Good riddance – it’s past time to step away, as a nation, from such racially divisive connections.
DU Heart’s Cheney
Former Vice President Richard Cheney has been admitted to hospital with a unspecified complaint of discomfort.
DU denizens were quick to share their deep felt concern for Cheney’s condition:
Sharia Law Comes to Michigan
Four Christians (Acts 17 Apologetics) were arrested while handing out literature outside a Moslem festival in Dearborn, MI. The video is unbelievable – EIGHT armed police officers approached three of the Christians handing out literature to question them, one of the officers walked over to the videographer and confiscated his video camera. So much for first amendment rights in Dearborn, MI.
For those new to the story – Dearborn, Michigan is a hotbed for islamic terror cells.
Ed Morrissey reports that the Thomas More Law Center has agreed to represent the four Christian evangelists. Ed makes a great point: Note to the defendants: Don’t forget to ask for damages. A lot of damages. Millions upon millions would be my suggestion.

General Petraeus To Afghanistan
Due to his critical remarks regarding the current Administrations inability to handle the Afghanistan conflict, Obama announced his decision to replace General McChrystal with the stalwart General Petraeus. I’m sure Moveon.org is busy scripting another ‘General Betray-us’ ad right now.
Recall, Obama had voted against Petraeus‘ counter terrorist plan for Iraq (aka The Surge) in 2007 and that General McChrystal was hand picked by Obama to lead US forces in Afghanistan.
A Wedding in Sweden
On June 19th, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Daniel Westling will wed in Stockholm Cathedral. Will her father, the king, walk her up the isle? Or will she follow Swedish tradition of her and Daniel walking together to the altar?
According the official wedding website:
The royal wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling on 19 June, 2010, is a unique event. It is the first wedding of a female successor to the throne in the list of Swedish monarchs.
It is also a historic event in the history of the Swedish monarchy. When The Crown Princess becomes Queen she will be Sweden’s fourth female regent after Queen Margareta (reigned 1389-1396), Queen Kristina (reigned 1632-1654) and Queen Ulrika Eleonora the Younger (reigned 1718-1720).
When he marries Crown Princess Victoria, Mr Daniel Westling will be granted the title Prince, Duke of Västergötland.
I do not believe the Obama’s received an invitation. You can follow along with all the festivities by clicking HERE
Come Visit Arizona
Governor Jan Brewer is inviting Americans to send a postcard to the White House encouraging Obama to visit Arizona and check out the border security for himself.

Mitch McConnell and the GOP Response
Remarks by Senator Mitch McConnell on tonight’s speech addressing the BP spill by Obama:
Most Americans are baffled by all this. The crisis as they see it is a broken pipe at the bottom of the ocean, miles-long oil slicks, and threatened coastlines. The first thing they want to know is what the administration plans to do to plug the leak, clean up the oil, and mitigate the spill’s effects on the livelihoods of those affected.
And yet day after day, as the oil continues to flow, what we hear about from the administration is how tough they plan to be with BP and now, apparently, how important it is that we institute a new tax that will raise energy costs for every single American but which will do nothing to plug the leak. Never has a mission statement fit an administration as perfectly as Rahm Emanuel’s “never allow a crisis to go to waste.” Climate change policy is important, but first things first.
Americans are saying two things at the moment: stop this spill and clean it up. So with all due respect to the White House, the wetlands of the Bayou, the beaches of the coast, and our waters in the Gulf are far more important than the status of the Democrats’ legislative agenda in Washington. Americans want us to stop the oil spill first. And until this leak is plugged, they’re not in any mood to hand over even more power in the form of a new national energy tax to a government that, so far, hasn’t lived up to their expectations in its response to this crisis.
In addition to additional taxes, Obama creates another Czar – Meet the Drill Czar
For the life of me, I could not discern a plan of action through the thicket of finger pointing, cap&tax sales pitch and a tax increase proposal. Perhaps someone could point out the plan in Obama’s speech? Let me know, leave a comment below.
UPDATE: It appears ACORN will have a new job in the Obama administration – “... In order to ensure that all legitimate claims are paid out in a fair and timely manner, the account must and will be administered by an independent third party.” Seriously, this is the guy who stated if we don’t pass an 800 BILLION spending bill right frakking now unemployment would hit about 8.5 percent in 2009 rising to a peak of about 9 percent in 2010.
What about the rules of PayGo? Remember this is the government that makes stuff up as it goes along. Why would anyone, especially BP and the residents of the gulf states, trust this government to hand off 20 BILLION to an “independent third party” without any strings attached. As Alcee Hastings pointed out..we make the rules up as we go along, that will most certainly include the management of the 20 BILLION escrow account.
PS: BP has already established a mechanism to pay legitimate claims of damage from the oil spill – you can check out the process HERE. More than 51 million dollars have been paid out in claims already through BP’s Claims Response program. BP posted a video of the impact of the claims process in the gulf states. You can view the video HERE.
The more you look at it, the clearer it shows the government using this tragedy to financially squeeze a major employer in the gulf states.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we:
Why would anyone in the gulf states trust this democrat congress with a 20 BILLION dollar escrow account?
Obama’s Oil Based Speech
Tomorrow, Obama will finally address the nation on the status of the oil disaster in the Gulf. It’s only been 56 days since the explosion of the BP oil rig. This is a time for leadership, not pass-the-buckmanship.
Good Lord, the same liberal neophytes excoriated President Bush for a 6 minute delay during 9/11, yet they are curiously silent on this epic disaster. Just think of the outrage if President Bush dithered about for 56 days before addressing the nation after 9/11?
In advance of this speech, I’ve created a poll to see what talking points will be shared with the American public. Not holding my breath for any solid action plan to be revealed:
The Bitter American tells it like it is – Obama, Talk is Cheap. Love this blog!

Game On! England VS USA
UPDATE: England VS USA game ends in a draw with a score of 1:1
60 years on, England faces the US in a 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer(football) match.
I will say, in the most delicate way possible, this is England’s game. Especially, if Obama has indicated support for the Unites States team, as he has an unusually consistent record of backing the losing team.
I’ll be out most of the day today, and will check in to see if the American athletes are sporting any type of American flag on their uniform. In past actions, the State Department has asked Americans to remove our flag from their uniforms. Will the same hold true at the World Cup match?
