Why I Run – Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation

Saturday Run Stats:

Friday Run Stats:

Saturday’s run was a milestone in my brief running career, I took on the MOAH (Mother of All Hills) in Pennypack park and won! My distance was less than Friday, but this run was a win in my book. The weather in late August in Philly can best be described as wet soup – you are thoroughly soaked after a few minutes on the trail. I am so looking forward to Fall and Winter.

Why am I running in the sweltering heat and besting MOAH’s? This is why:

All of us know someone whose life has been turned upside down with a cancer diagnosis. As Alex would say ‘ If life gives you lemons, make Lemonade’ We can all do our part help the littlest of cancer heros. I’m participating in the first annual Lemon Run 5K race in Ridley Creek Park on October 25 and I hope you can help support this worthy event and organization.

I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line on October 25th, but the real winners will be the children battling cancer.

Please take a moment to donate to Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) – just click on the Lemon on the right sidebar. You donation means the world to a child battling cancer!

Tuesday Run

Yep, Boston Marathon, here I come! My goal is to run a comfortable 4 miles before October 25 ALSF Lemon Run

As a novice runner, I found this video to be visually motivating:

Weekend Run Stats

The air was saturated with moisture, you could see a faint veil of mist covering the creek and woods as I ran 1.79 miles today. There was otherworldy, almost Twilight feel as I ran through the park. I can see how this can become an addiction.

I’m halfway to the 3.2 mile mark – YES! Lemon Run, here I come!

Thursday Run

A soft rain in the morning made for near perfect running conditions. This was my longest run to date – but my best is yet to come!

Tuesday Run

An early start in the Park, the morning air was actually chilly. Running a longer course and taking time to stretch after the run. I’ve a problem with cutting out a good stretch post run in order to get home quicker.

Next run will be a series of jogging then sprinting for 20 secs. See you on the trail!

Weekend Run Stats

Sunday Run: Torrential downpours this morning caused the Pennypack Creek to overflow its banks and flood my usual running route. I had to quickly find an alternate route. Pine Road is good for a mile with the added bonus of a challenging hill.

Saturday Run: Used my time to calibrate the new Nike+ sensor to my running and walking pace. These times were not recorded. I did a practice walk to figure out how this all works and that data is recorded and displayed.

Why am I tracking my runs? The Lemon Run is set for Saturday, October 25th at Ridley Creek State Park. Ending childhood cancer one run at a time – see you there!
